NEK from a 10 to 0
NEK from a 10 to a 0. Last year it was FANTASTIC up there, a 10+. We've been going up north for many years. Monday we headed to Lyndonville, with a 4 day reservation. I'd read about the 90 degree weather you had a week ago. Well, that hot weather must of fried the leaves, foliage is awful! Many tree...

Best color Oct. 8th
We just got home from a 2 day trip in NEK, we've been going up every year for a long time. I love this forum and the new map someone posted with sites with gps. I entered some of them in my gps before going up. I've heard the members talk about Jobs Pond, but I never knew where it was, found it, mar...

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
Just returned from 2 days in NEK, the best color is along Rt 16 near Glover area. On the way home we stopped at gas station in Danville, like we always do, I went inside to see what new maps or books they have. Last year I got the Jimapco Vermont road atlas there. Today I got a wonderful Jimapco NEK...

Re: BEST SCENIC VIEWS/MUST SEE SPOTS!
We went up to Northeast Kingdom Oct. 2 & 3. Took the tour someone posted here with google map, starting at Lyndonville, north Pudding Road, Lakeview Road, across top of the Lake, up Hinton Rd, then south on 114. Tue it was very cloudy, you could see color but it needed SUN! Beautiful colors on 114. ...

Lewis pond overlook update
Just got home, from 2 days in northern VT. Thur: the foliage is beautiful! It's as nice as we've ever seen it, in all the years we've been up here. I thought the weather was suppose to be mostly sunny with some clouds yesterday, instead it was almost totally cloudy with some sun around 4pm, even had...

Lewis Pond
It might be a bit past peak, but there should still be a lot of color left. More yellows than red and orange. You add the view to the colors and it will be worth it. We had yucky weather the day we were therebut we still spent an hour there. The view reminds me of the views on the Blue Ridge Parkwa...

Lewis Pond overlook?
We've done a lot of dirt road driving in NEK and Danville area over the years, looking for native orchids in the summer and foliage in the fall.
We've never been to Lewis Pond road and overlook, it sounds GREAT!!
We are going up Thur & Fri. the 8th is that too late?

Load map onto gps?
How do you do this? I have a garmin 60csx. Shirley I did my best to map this out on Google maps if anybody else is interested. You can even send the route to your GPS. Looks like a good one, thanks NEK! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=28+Back+Center+Rd,+Lyndonville,+VT&daddr=Pudding...

Update on northern Vt
Yes, I know about finding the right spot, and using a polarizer, I wear polarizer sunglasses and am taking them off and putting on a lot to see how it looks. It's just that a lot of leaves were off the trees in the foreground, some high some low. I also know how important it is for the sun to be rig...

Update for northern VT
We went up I-93 to St. Johnsbury, VT, then up I-91 to Orleans over to Irasburg, Hazen Notch, route 118 was nice, 114 ok around in that area, following someone from this forum who said it was fantastic. We had sun, but high overcast. Well, we've been doing foliage for 20 years in VT so maybe we are a...
