Re: Barns in Southern Vermont

A few years back I took this picture. I can't for the life of me remember where I was, but I do remember I was driving south along a major route (but not an interstate). I remember somewhere along the way there was a small waterfall on the side of the road. (Other photos here: www.pbase.com/florindo...

Re: Report and pix from Somerset Reservoir (about 450 kb)

Nice pictures! I too am an avid photographer. I spent some time at that reservoir last year and shot a bunch of pictures. I also found myself on some God-forsaken road in my 4WD truck that led to some incredible scenery. I took the main road along Somerset Reservoir and kept on it for a while until ...

Re: Hope you had a great time

Yes! Thanks very much to you and Charles for the great advice. Because of the distance I was only able to make it up there twice, and I didn't get all of the pictures I wanted, but it was still beautiful and worth the effort. I can't wait until next year.

Re: Visiting Ludlow on 17th 18th and 19th

Sam:

If you do a search of this forum or look through some of the messages, you'll see a whole bunch of suggestions on routes. I go up there from central New Jersey, and I've seen lots and lots of suggestions in this forum.

Re: Colors of Vermont

I would definitely say that it has reached peak around that immediate area of the reservoir and river, but as I wandered down that road, the leaves I could see from the dirt road were not as colorful as near the water edge. In fact, a lot of the leaves were falling off the trees, and it really wasn'...

Re: Colors of Vermont

I went down Somerset Road and made a left about half-way up (just as the "No Parking" signs appeared) onto Castle Brook Rd, or so my GPS told me. But after some time on that road it no longer had a name, and it got really, really hairy. Like I mentioned, without a robust 4WD it can't be navigated. I...

Colors of Vermont

Well, I took Charles's advice and drove to Somerset Reservoir in southern Vermont today (and back to New Jersey). It was a 500 mile round trip, but it was worth it! I not only went to the reservoir, but also took Somerset Road to the end, and then went up a dirt road in my 4WD truck and nearly got l...

Re: Please Help - Specific Photography Situation

WOW! Charles! That's a great shot! That's exactly what I'm looking for, and sometime tomorrow (Saturday) I will be there. Incredible scene!

Thanks very much to all who responded. I cannot wait to get there!

Re: Please Help - Specific Photography Situation

Sorry, Charles, I got swamped today at work. I have no set place to be in Vermont. I'm going up there to drive the entire state if I have to in search of that shot! Since I'm leaning toward snow-capped mountain shots, I may go north, but I'm certainly willing to go to the south. Thanks very much for...

Re: Please Help - Specific Photography Situation

Thanks to both ixl and pwt54 (I'll learn your names, I promise!) for the reponses. I'll take the advice and go to those places you mentioned. I'm not restricted to just that kind of shot, but I'm sort of commissioned to get that shot for someone. I'll keep my eyes open for other scenes and report ba...

Please Help - Specific Photography Situation

Greetings: I'm a new member to the forum, but I've been lurking about for a while... I used the search function for an answer to this question but did not find one. I am coming to Vermont this weekend (Oct. 11) on a quick photography shoot, and I am looking for a specific scene to shoot. I am lookin...
