Re: Brattleboro vs. White River Junction for base camp

I'm not sure I can help you Nancy as things change quickly, but I'm pretty sure between those two Brattleboro is a much better choice now. I would check all the cool side roads in MA, we loved old tree tunnel roads around Pittsfield and N. Adams. I honestly prefer those to the roads in Vermont, as m...

Re: Bucket List Help Needed

Read the latest posts in every thread, there is tons of info here, but not well organized. Cover the area between N. Adams and Manchester, VT and also West and East from there, Northern NY is gonna look great. VT 9 looked spectacular yesterday too. Don't go further North, but drive around any small ...

Re: Need help on foliage drive planing

I know there is still color, but the "freshness" level decreased dramatically. Comparing to RT 9 or North Taconinc Pkwy - no contest. The problem is that many areas which still have green trees are widely affected by a high percentage of brown/dry leaves, so even if those specific green trees get mo...

Re: Need help on foliage drive planing

JC don't go further North than Manchester. Hopefully your bookings are flexible as I advised you before LOL. Stay in Bennington or N. Adams. Focus on 7A and 9 + the areas in Northern MA and NY State, around Northern part of Taconic State Parkway. It's pretty amazing right now, much cleaner colors th...

Re: Bucket List Help Needed

sorry, too late this year. Stay in NY state and visit places around the Northern part of the Taconic Parkway.
It should be still beautiful, I drove it yesterday and it was nicer than anything in Vermont right now.
When you arrive it should still be pretty. Vermont is pretty much finished.

Drive 9 - NOW! and my recommendations - Oct 2nd

I drove down through the state today and the BEST by far I have seen was RT 9 from Bennington. If I come to see the foliage today, I would stay in Manchester, BTW the prettiest and cleanest town in VT, and not bother driving North, but staying around 7A and 9. 9 is the nicest drive, the cleanest col...

Re: Weird season - my thoughts

I made a Waitsfield loop today (17 and Lincoln GAP) and I'm in Woodstock. All looking exactly as described.
Not sure how it is further South, but around here it's all the same. Colorful from far away,
but not really saturated and mostly brownish...

Re: Day 6 - Oct 1st - pics

Nothing is saturated red/yellow anymore. The overwhelming color is becoming brown. Looks like yellow,
but it's not. I just posted my observations, check it out and share your thoughts, but I'm feeling
it's gonna be a very short season...

Weird season - my thoughts

Guys, I'm not an expert, but I've been here for a week and have made some observations. Crazy season. Started sooner and with a bang. But because of the warm/dry weather it accelerated and the progress has been super fast. A great looking tree in front of our hotel in Quebec started getting red on t...

Day 5 - Sept 30th - report and pics

The most amazing weather - finally some nice sky and constantly changing light. And the most amazing scenery all within half an hour from Sutton. This is an easy day trip from anywhere in NEK. Add to this some great cheese and pate plus real bread. So good. A few pics follow, all taken on the side r...

Re: How's Darling Hill Road today (Sept 30th)?

I knew I could count on your feedback! Thanks so much.
Sucks this great looking road is not ready, but I'd take one of your roads.
West or East? I need one :D
I guess as I already covered 16 and around, I should try the East one tomorrow.
