Re: NY Adirondacks - Worth Driving Through?

Sorry for the delay, I just now got home from NEK/Stowe. It's gorgeous!!! The High Peaks area is very nice, but it's a haul from the thruway. Here's a closer route that I can vouch for, having been in that area last week: From Utica, take 12 north to 28. Take 28 all the way to Wevertown then grab 9 ...

Re: NY Adirondacks - Worth Driving Through?

I might be a little biased because I live very near there, but it's looking pretty good this year. It's not much out of your way, so I would say go for it! That's where I'll catch the (rainy) morning light on my way to the NEK today. What route are you coming in from?

Lewis Pond Panorama from last weekend.

Here's a better look at the Lewis Pond Panorama from an earlier post.
Got a print of it today on metallic paper and it looks pretty good!

Thanks! It was great for viewing, not so much for documentation. But, I'll try again Saturday! Headed for Middlebury and the gap, through
Groton Forest to Peacham. Then over to Waterbury for sustenance, down to the Common Road, through Lincoln Gap and back to (sigh) northern NY. Whew!

You are most welcome! I never would have considered going there without the info garnered from this board.

Leopold loves to go along and make friends with everyone. That and splash around in the water!

Pictures from NEK

Here's a slide show from Sunday's trip to Lewis and Jobs Ponds and Smuggler's Notch. It was an ugly, gray-sky kind of day and I'm just an amateur, so don't expect much! http://www.congadude.com/Images/NEK%20Resized/index.html I'm not sure why the URL doesn't hyperlink. You'll have to copy/paste. Sor...

Lewis Pond Road Closure

Okay, now that I have some useful information, it's time to post! My wife and I took a nice trip from NNY into the Northeast Kingdom and to Lewis Pond, which we surely would never have done without my years of lurking on this forum. Foliage and view were awesome! The roads in were fine, with me aver...
