Re: Pictures from my recent foliage vacation

Your travel pics are truly a work of art. I don't know if I've ever seen better. My wife and I were in Vermont at the same time you were there and of course it was beautiful. I also have traveled a lot, and Vermont is the most peaceful place I've ever visited. Perhaps one day you can visit the South...

Re: Too late for color??? Pls advise

We were in Burlington just a week ago, and there was great color, but also still a lot of green...so I would think all is not lost. Perhaps someone closer to the action could be more specific.

We are home after a magical four days in the beautful Green mountain state of mind. My wife and I have never enjoyed a vacation as much. The foliage of course an a plus...but everything was so laid back and the people were friendly and I could go on and on. As for anyone reading this and still conte...

Heading North

Well, the journey to the Green Mountain state of mind begins today. We will be flying into Burlington tonight and can't wait to get a peek at, we hope at least, some beautiful fall foliage Vermont style. What's it looking like up there? According to the weather reports we've been getting, it seems w...

Re: Starting to get worried

Well, not only will we be in Vt. during the same time period as you guys, but we will also be arriving late night on the 10th..flying into Burlington. I'm a little suprised you haven't seen some pretty nice fall color over in SC during early and mid Nov. Good luck with your 13 year old and be sure t...

Re: Starting to get worried

Since I'm from Alabama, what do I know? Right? But since my trip is the same dates as yours, I've been doing as much research as possible. Getting current info as well as past history and guess what....I think we will be doing great next weekend. The color will of course vary depending on where you ...

Re: colors

It is actually the days getting shorter and less sun that triggers changes in the fall. The cool nights and mild days enhance the color change.

Re: Past Peak?

past peak generally means the leaves may still be on the trees, but the best color is gone. Hey, if you miss out in vermont, wait a few weeks and come to alabama...really....we have very good color from about central ala and to the north starting in late oct into the middle of nov. in fact, this is ...

oct 10th

My wife and I are going to be in Burlington on Oct 10 and we will be there thur the weekend. I understand that predicting fall color is not an exact science, but I would appreciate some observations from someone who has been in the area a few years as to what we might expect at that time of the fall...
