Re: 1st time to VT -- Oct 19/20
Best foliage viewing we saw yesterday was north of Brattleboro in that pocket of southeast along 5 and 91 along the Connecticut River. Once you go below White River Junction it's back into autumn and leaves are still on some the trees. North of that it's way past peak but still pretty in it's own sp...

Re: Wind and Rain on September 19th
Spent the last four days on vacation riding around looking for early autumn foliage. Here's what we noted on our motorcycle journey's of about 500 miles: Saturday headed north to Eastern Townships of Quebec mountains and valleys in the Sutton to Bromont areas. Rt. 105 from Troy to Richford beginning...

Re: NYC to Rutland
A very "scenic" way from NYC, is Taconic State Parkway north to Rt. 90 where is ends. Then take either Rt. 22A North to Rt. 9 in NY turns to Rt. 7 into Bennington, Vermont. Take Historic 7 A North and keep going north. Route 7 takes you to Rutland. Rt. 100 is too inland and will not drop you into Ru...

Re: TRAVELING TO STOWE 1st and 2nd wk of OCT
Andy, Actually Stagecoach road is in Stowe off Rt. 100 north. From Rt. 15 East you would take Church to Main to Depot and it changes at the town line to Stagecoach back to Rt. 100 Soutn. Usually I take it from Rt. 100 north to 15 then cut back over to 100 North. My mistake on directions southbound. ...

Re: TRAVELING TO STOWE 1st and 2nd wk of OCT
part 2 If you are coming from New Jersey and looking for a colorful drive, travel up during the day leaving early and get off the highway! Take Exit 23 off the Thruway and head towards Vermont - Take Rt. 7 over to Bennington then Rt. 9 over to Wilmington. From there, take Rt. 100 all the way up to S...

Re: TRAVELING TO STOWE 1st and 2nd wk of OCT
October 6-9 in the Stowe area will be exciting... Not only will the foliage be peak, but many events and activities occur during Columbus Day weekend. From Route 100 north, take Moscow road and follow signs to the Trapp Family Lodge. Once at the lodge parking lot, walk the grounds, hike some of the ...

Re: foliage estimates
Good news and bad news.... Yes, you can try to chase down some autumn colors in the east... Unfortunately, you will have to head to mountains of northern Maine or stay in the Whites in New Hampshire around Mount Washington area... Vermont will be too early.. unless you stay in the extreme high eleva...

Re: Trip with toddler in October
All of the above if helpful. My suggestion would be if you only plan to stay one place and do day trips, stay in the heart of Vermont ~ Killington area. This way you can venture north, south, east or west depending on the activity or attraction you wish to visit. Go where you and your husband would ...

Re: 9-11 October Best places
I would highly recommend staying in the Stowe/Mt. Mansfield Area if you are only spending one day in the northern part and there is breathtaking scenery and many places to stay and eat in the Stowe area. Then journey down Rt. 100 to the Killington/Rutland area for the same and spend day in the centr...
