Stowe Mountain Resort Easter Sunrise Service 2003

QuickTime 360 VR Panorama

Stowe Mountain Top Easter Service

An annual ritual towards the end of the ski season at Stowe is the Easter Sunrise Service. Depending on the weather, anywhere from 500-to-1,000 people get up early to be at the Stowe Mountain Resort Gondola for the ride up the mountain. The gondola usually starts running about 4:30 am and stops at 5:40 am so that the service can be conducted without undue noise. The ride up is free and so is the coffee , hot chocolate and doughnuts that you'll receive at the top. Sometimes they give out flowers.

Besides the interdenominational service conducted for many years by Rev. Bruce Comiskey of the Stowe Community church, you may be lucky and see a stunning view of the sun coming up and bathing the Stowe valley in golden light.
