Every Father's Day weekend, the Quechee area draws more than 20,000 people to this annual event. It attracts amateur and professional crafters, musicians, and photographers, along with about two dozen or so balloonists. (The actual number of balloons is limited by the size of the festival grounds.) Besides the colorful balloons which appear at dawn and dusk, the event has dozens of craft stalls, food outlets, and an almost continuous program of live music.

The festival is organized by the Hartford Chamber of Commerce which aims to produce a family-oriented event with something for everyone.

The Quechee Father's Day Weekend date has become the weekend for weddings, reunions, engagements, birthday and anniversary celebrations.

The Festival has become a true region-wide activity. Visitors fill lodging and dining facilities within a 40-mile radius; there is a waiting list for balloonists wishing to attend; and entertainment groups vie for inclusion.

The 2007 Festival marks the 28th year of this event.
