Gorgeous, thanks! I am considering maybe spending the night in that vicinity.
If anyone can pinpoint the spot for me on Google Maps or similar, that'd be grateful.
When were those shots taken?
As for the drive... sounds like fun, I get lost on the backroads on purpose.

Carol: I have had to stop what I was doing and just stare at these photos. It is almost surreal to think we will all be there in 9 days. I'm sure I will be drawn to tears when I step onto that ledge and gaze at what is before me. Oh, to be a bird and fly over that lake and those mountains....
I have been waiting for this day for a year. This is going to be my ultimate Vermont experience. I just know it. (Aside from the moose encounter if it ever happens.... )
Is "overwhelmedness" the right word?
(To quote a friend of mine....)
Thank you.

I was up there this afternoon as was a guy from Plymouth,NH. He was using a canon rebel (gasp) film camera. I use to send folks on the Stone Dam Road because it was easier. But the colors on the Henshaw and Four Mile roads are better. Drive east out of Island Pond village about 1/2 of a mile and look for the Henshaw Road on the left. Turn left onto the Henshaw Road. The road starts out bushy then you come to a wide oprn area with an old farm. Drive past the farm and the camp and soon you will come to a gate. Drive through the gate and in about 3 miles look for a wooden post on the left side that says the Nulhegan Basin. Take the road across from this sign post, This is the Four Mile Road. Drive this road to the end at the Lewis Pond Road and turn left. Drive the Lewis Pond Road up to the end where this overlook is located.
Phil,
Google maps shows Lewis Pond road coming right off 105.. is that incorrect? Thanks.
Best regards,
Charles

Yeah the models are not looking good at all right now. Still time for things to change, but the overall pattern looks more like earlier in the summer when it was crappy day after day. Now even next weekend they are talking about lots of clouds and drizzle.
Guess we'll see.. I'll keep an eye on things, and report what the models look like to me. They are usually fairly reliable within 3-4 days, and very reliable within 2.
I may change my plans depending on how things look.

Sure... I gotta say though that right now things are not looking good. The yucky weather from early this week seems to now be ready to merge with the system from later in this week giving us not much of a break for good weather in between. And right now at least the models aren't positive for the weekend.

Yes, This really aggravates me. 365 days out of the year and the weather pulls this on us. I don't mind rain if there are some cloud breaks now and then, but this seems to be total cloud cover all over Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
Tomorrow there should be some sunshine and then rain and clouds forever thru next week.
Guess I will leave out of here in the very early am to take advantage of some sun and hope for the best for te rest of the week.
If I go I will try to update conditions, privided I can get WIFI connection.

If the forecast continues as is, we may be sitting at the Wayside eating those beans and franks!
Nonetheless, I have a poncho and umbrella and nothing will hold me back from having or finding a good time in Vermont!
Things can change or we can change our plans! Let's wait and see what the next couple of days bring! I am always optomistic!
