Early Bennington report

Color is still in the early stages here (normal) but looking pretty decent. There's still a fair bit of browns and yellows, but I'm also seeing a good quantity of red, even in some places I don't remember seeing it before. So things seem on track so far.
We should be about 7 to 10 days from peak at the higher elevations. Will try to get up there soon and check it out.

Thanks Charles. I'm with Carol - looking forward to heading to your area with Phil and bm to meet up with you for the day! I've never done Carpenter Hill Road in the fall and that is on the list! We also want to go to the Hogback overlook and hike up to the tower. Do you know if Kelly Stand Road is closed?
Liked your phrase, "... a good quantity of red". Now that's encouraging!!!

Kelly Stand Road is unfortunately down for the count.
They may have reopened the bottom part by then.. and you wouldn't want to bother with the higher elevations that late in the season anyway. But I'm afraid what was once one of the prettiest rivers in Vermont is now an ugly wasteland anyway, and not worth photographing any more.

Charles,
Really sorry to hear about the changes that the storm wrought.
I too will be following your updates with a mix of anticipation and nerves as I will not be arriving until the 13th.
Thank you very much.
Dean
