You'll find this charming Victorian
farmhouse located on the western edge of a rural
village surrounded by Mount Ascutney, Woodstock , Historic Windsor (birthplace
of Vermont), and nearby Dartmouth. For the winter sports-minded, there
is alpine skiing (across the road), cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.
In warmer weather, the area offers golfing, country clubs, a year round
fitness center, bike rentals, bicycle riding routes (road and mountain
bikes), English and Western horse riding stables (incl. Green Mountain
Horse Assoc.), hiking, fishing, picnicking, canoeing (rentals available)
and even hang gliding!
For the explorer, there are cheese factories, covered bridges, grist mills, monuments, museums, Historic State and National Parks, (Billings Farm, Constitution House, Cornish Colony, Marsh-Billings-Rockerfeller, Mount Ascutney, Montshire, Precision, Saint Gaudens, Wilgus) just minutes away. We have brochures available to help you find the area of your interest. The Mill Brook itself dates back to the 1800's. It was built by Wilbert Sykes, who operated a very successful circular saw mill. Here he and his wife, Harriet, brought up eight sons and two daughters. Accommodations The Mill Brook B&B has five unique New England style guest rooms & suites. Each has a private bath and an array of charming antiques. A rich assortment of old German style Fraktur paintings grace some of the woodwork and the cozy atmosphere makes one feel immediately at home. There are also three comfortable sitting areas, one with a glass front wood burning stove to warm you after a day of skiing or hiking. A forth common room, the original kitchen is always "open" with a refrigerator & microwave for guest use. Afternoon tea is served & during ski season hot soup is included.
